Get Focused was crafted with folks dealing with ADHD in mind. My daughter, when diagnosed with ADHD (lack of focus and easily distracted, not hyperactive), she REFUSED to take medication. I crafted this blend with her mental health in mind. Get Focused is packed full of herbs to settle a restless mind and improve blood flow to the brain. Peppermint is added for flavor but also to enhance the senses, awakening the mind to bring us back to the tasks at hand.
Skullcap: of all the herbs in this blend, skullcap may be one of the most effective for a fatigued mind. Like lemon balm, skullcap is a nervine, helping reduce stress and tension within the nerves. For those, like myself, who are quick to heat and "fly off the handle" when stressed, this little herbal ally will cool you down and bring you back to a relaxed state. It helps one release the need for controling outcomes as well as releasing stuck energy in the body.
Gotu Kola: In Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine Gotu Kola is known as one of the most important as a revitalization herb. Often given to the elderly to stimulate the brain and balance the bodies systems, increasing longevity and memory, while "decreasing senility and other aging symptoms." Gingko biloba: Copying straight from The Herbal Academy: Herbarium: "It generally aids those whose cognitive abilities may be impaired by imbalances ranging from ADD/ADHD to chronic stress and trauma. Ginkgo sharpens mental focus in part by improving the synthesis and turnover of neurotransmitters, and normalizing acetylcholine (ACh) receptors in the hippocampus (Bastyr, 2003)."
Holy Basil: Also known as Tulsi and sacred basil, this herb is revered in Indian culture..."sacred to the Hindu god Vishnu, and the plant is regarded as a manifestation of the Goddess Vrindavani—or of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and consort of Vishnu." Tulsai, in sanskrit, translates to "that which is incomparable." While this herb doesn't have much difference medicinally to common basil, the cultural diferences stated above are what separates the two. Tulsi is a nervine as well, stimulating at first but bringing a cooling, calming effect that quiets the mind bringing scattered thoughts into focus. This, along with Skullcap, you cannot go wrong with this blend when a need for focus and steadfastness are necessary.
